About This Event

An evening of conversation, inspiration and connection as we celebrate the creatives, makers and cultural voices shaped by Merthyr Tydfil. About Made In Merthyr Made in Merthyr is a pilot event to bring together creatives from Merthyr Tydfil to connect, collaborate and share. Join us for a chance to meet and learn from other creatives, whether you're just starting out or have years of experience. The event begins with a TED-style talk by our speaker , followed by an informal hour to build relationships, share knowledge, and uncover new opportunities. We're delighted to be joined by Georgia Griffiths, spoken word poet from Merthyr Tydfil. Georgia is passionate about championing working-class voices. She is a published poet and researcher for BBC Wales. She has performed at Glastonbury, won England Slam, and represented the UK at the World Cup Poetry Slam in Paris. She has supported Pete Doherty and Dom Joly, and toured the UK performing at festivals including Glastonbury (2027), Big Love, Westival, Swansea Fringe and the Edinburgh Fringe. She has hosted radio shows, DJ’d, and continues to champion working-class voices in the creative industries, encouraging people from all backgrounds to be creative. Georgia will also be facilitating an open mic after her talk, and attendees are invited to bring short pieces to read should they wish.
