Merthyr Tydfil has science in its DNA. As the world's first industrial town, it was a place where engineering, chemistry and innovation changed the world — from Richard Trevithick's pioneering steam locomotive, which made its historic first journey from Penydarren in 1804, to the iron and coal technology that powered the Industrial Revolution.
